Abstract
The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.
This dataset contains Galilee Basin Subregion, hydrogeological formation extents in polygon shapefile format. These extents are derived for use in groundwater modelling of the Galilee Basin subregion.
Purpose
These extents are derived for use in groundwater modelling of the Galilee Basin subregion.
Dataset History
The lower hydrogeological formation extents; Moolyember, Clematis, Rewan, Bandanna, Joe Joe, were converted into shapefile format and copied directly from the source dataset - GAL Aquifer Formation Extents v02 (GUID: be0a97f2-ddfd-4d3a-9d6d-522bf34b559f).
The upper formation extents were derived from the dataset - Three-dimensional visualisation of the Great Artesian Basin - GABWRA (GUID: 98e49f7c-28a6-4ad1-83c7-fdf606954fbc). The source dataset contains boundary data for the GAB formations; Cenozoic, Hooray, Hutton, Injune Creek, Rolling Downs and Winton. The original format of these boundaries is a GOCAD model input. These files were converted into excel format (point data) with latitude and longitude information. Using ArcMap, the excel files were then converted into GIS point data and a polygon boundary drawn around the extents of the point data for each formation.
