HUN Groundwater footprint polygons v01

Abstract

This dataset was created by the Bioregional Assessment Programme without the use of source data. Metadata was not provided and has been compiled by the Bioregional Assessment Programme based on the known details at the time of acquisition.

This dataset contains all of the groundwater footprint polygons that were used in the groundwater modelling. There is also a document with the source references for all of the footprints extracted from EISs and similar documents.

Purpose

To define the extent of mines (footprint) within the Hunter subregion in the groundwater model.

Dataset History

Environmental impact statements and similar documents were downloaded from New South Wales Department of Planning and Environment Major Projects website, and from mining companies' websites. Mining extents shown in maps and figures were extracted and digitised from these documents and converted to polygon files (*.poly) using Geosoft Oasis Montaj software.

A list of documents used for creating these polygon files are also included in the dataset.
