Namoi predicted change in surface water groundwater flux

Abstract

This dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple source datasets. The source datasets are identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

This dataset is showing the maximum change in the surface water - groundwater exchange flux that was calculated by the groundwater model (MODFLOW) and propagated to the river model (AWRA-R) for the additional coal resource development. All of the groundwater model runs were summarised as the 5th, 50th and 95th percentiles of the increases and decreases in surface water - groundwater exchange flux.

Dataset History

The zone budget in MODFLOW was used to sum the surface water - groundwater exchange flux for each reach of the river model for each stress period (month). This ACRD time series was created by subtracting the CRDP time series from the baseline time series. The maximum and minimum values from the ACRD time series were recorded for each model run giving a maximum increase and a maximum decrease in surface water - groundwater exchange flux. These maximums and minimums from each model run were summarised as the 5th, 50th and 95th percentiles.
