HUN Assessment Units 1000m 20160725 v02

Abstract

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple datasets. The source dataset is identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

This Assessment Units dataset is a 1000m X 1000m vector polygon shapefile ('vector grid') dataset that was generated over the Hunter subregion starting at the whole kilometer to ensure grid lines fall exactly on the whole kilometre. This grid is intended for use in the HUN subregion only and it covers the area that is 20 km greater than the Hunter subregional boundary. It was derived to perfectly align with the interpolated groundwater model results produced by the Hunter groundwater model. The unique ID field for each vector polygon tile is stored in both the AUID (text) field and the au500_id (integer) field. Also included is a point shapefile representing the centroids of the Assessment Units. The dataset is in projection Australia Albers (GDA94) (EPSG 3577).

Purpose

This grid is intended for use in the HUN subregion only and it covers the area that is 20 km greater than the Hunter subregionl boundary. It was derived to perfectly align with the interpolated groundwater model results produced by the Hunter groundwater model. It is designed to enable the efficient and accurate transfer of data from the groundwater model to the assets and landscape classes so that the impact analysis can be conducted.

Dataset History

The dataset was derived by the Bioregional Assessment Programme from multiple datasets. The source dataset is identified in the Lineage field in this metadata statement. The processes undertaken to produce this derived dataset are described in the History field in this metadata statement.

This Assessment Units dataset is a 1000m * 1000m vector polygon ('vector grid') dataset that was generated over the Hunter subregion starting at the whole kilometer to ensure grid lines fall exactly on the whole kilometer. It was created using the "create fishnet" tool within ArcGIS. It was derived to perfectly align with the interpolated groundwater model results produced by the Hunter groundwater model. ID fields were added to the attirbute table. The unique ID field for each vector polygon tile is stored in both the AUID (text) field and the au500_id (integer) field. Also included is a point shapefile representing the centroids of the Assessment Units created using the "FeatureToPoint" tool within ArcGIS. The dataset is in Australia Albers (GDA94) (EPSG 3577).
