Abstract
This data and its metadata statement were supplied to the Bioregional Assessment Programme by a third party and are presented here as originally supplied.
Location of all post 1967 onshore and offshore expired (cancelled, expired, surrendered, relinquished etc) Petroleum Exploration Licences/Permits issued under the various Petroleum Acts for the exploration of petroleum. Exploration Licences/permits provide exclusive tenure rights to explore for the regulated resource or commodity of petroleum. Data set contains the original outline and area at the time of grant. No subsequent boundaries are provided. Prior to the Mining (Petroleum) Act Amendment Act 1967 petroleum exploration licences were called Oil Exploration Licences (OEL), Oil Prospecting Licences (OPL) or Oil Mining Licences (OML) and are not included in this data set.
